Andrzej Seweryn invites (POLISH) 2019

Andrzej Seweryn proclaims himself the "Godfather"
of the Festival (POLISH with translation) 2018

We kicked off in a truly Hollywood style gala—a red carpet opening night which welcomed notable guests from Poland: Andrzej Seweryn, film and theatre actor, and executive director of a leading theater stage in Warsaw, Teatr Polski,; Katarzyna Kubacka-Seweryn, co-founder of the annual Extraordinary Movie-Encounter Festival (Festiwal Filmow-Spotkan Niezwyklych); and Agnieszka Mazanek, documentary filmmaker.

After the screening of the acclaimed feature film, The Last Family, everyone enjoyed a fun reception, sponsored by Impero Wine Distributors and Zywiec Beer. Our guests left with goodie bags and, most importantly, big smiles on their faces. On day two of the Festival, we screened the Oscar-nominated masterpiece Cold War, an incredible love story directed by Pawel Pawlikowski. A North American premiere of a documentary, Luxus. A Simple Story about a famous Polish art group was followed by a lively Q&A session with its director, Agnieszka Mazanek.

The 100th anniversary of Poland’s independence was marked by the screening of a Polish classic, The Promised Land, directed by a recipient of the honorary Academy Award, the legendary Andrzej Wajda. This event was also an opportunity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the artistic career of the movie’s star, Mr. Seweryn. We were thrilled to have him as our guest and a self-proclaimed “Godfather” of PFFM. We could not have wished for more!

The second annual Festival, scheduled for November 21-24, 2019, is shaping up to be even more spectacular. We invite everyone to be a part of this exciting initiative.

See you at the movies!
